    1. As a leader it is your job to find people who are ready for what’s next and help them level up! Sometimes this means bringing people into your team, and sometimes it means supporting people transitioning out of it. In a healthy organization people advance. Do your part!

This usually looks like behind the scenes advocacy and coaching - it’s not a big, public thing. I will credit the people who have helped me in this way _forever_ and part of that credit is paying it forward as much as I can.

Ask yourself who you have noticed and supported in this way, consider if you could do more, and if it is just people like you. Recognizing people’s individual strengths is the start of this work. Of course you should also check your bias but that is being a decent human 101.

I love to find people who are doing this and talk to them about whether they are interested in leadership. My best tip for finding them is always paying a lot of attention to who people say have helped or impacted them. The same names come up _again_ and again.

TL;DR: if you think there’s not enough leadership in your organization perhaps you’re not recognizing or supporting it enough (yet). Be the change you want to see!
