These pictures are by Pen Varlen. A soviet-Russian - Korean. He was accredited to North Korea by the Soviet ministry of culture in in 1953.

For 15 months he worked on re-establishing the Pyongyang university of fine arts, and connecting with artists in NK.

After returning to Russia he was prohibited from ever returning to NK. Many of the pictures in this exhibit were produced in Leningrad.
