IMO one thing "blind" hiring processes miss is it's blind both ways. Even if gets an interview, you still need to work in the environment.
-
If you know nothing about it, you know nothing about whether it's an environment people like you can be successful in.
-
Interviewing is very time consuming, so for people who have better options (obv not everyone does) it makes sense to be much more strategic.
-
IME with women, they don't interview for fun, and they don't participate in processes unless they feel optimistic about the job.
-
(Diversity is more than women, I don't know whether this is true of other underrepresented groups)
-
Partly why hiring women hard: don't just convince to *interview*, convince them want to work there, accept interview as a necessary step.
