Of all things, community work should be a place where we can have an abundance mentality.
-
Someone else's "success" (seemingly measured in twitter followers?) in community work doesn't take anything from anyone.
-
Also: that is a shit metric of success. The real success of community work comes in doing something you enjoy and having people value it.
-
Also IME people being inappropachable because they "famous" is heavily a numbers game. It's hard to reply to a lot of tweets / DMs / emails.
-
Most "successful" community members have been working at it - evenings, weekends - for a long time. Longevity and output is very effective.
-
Main point: this doesn't take anything from anyone. There is room for more, and there should be more. IMO True of all community work.

Also maybe we should talk about how these complaints are invariably by men and the thinly veiled targets are invariably women.
