I expended a lot of emotional energy at google dealing with the fact that many of my male colleagues did not see women as human beings. SarahNEmerson/893714563144613888

It’s clear that despite the expensive Diversity as Performance Art initiatives, little has changed.
-
I cannot tell you how exhausting it is to go to work in an environment where you feel like you have to justify and defend your humanity.
-
And for all we talk about how these people are in the "minority" there are enough of them. Just one can make many women miserable at work.
-
Then let's talk about the tactic acceptance. Because that is the worst and loneliest of all. Men you liked but now can't respect.
-
Because you know when it comes to it they might not "personally agree" but they will see some points he made, tell you not to be emotional.
-
One time I found the word "whore" in a design doc. The guy who wrote it, whatever. His manager commented "sigh". I thought that was worse.
-
Afaik the dude who wrote it got a talking to. Nothing happened to his manager. I expect they both still work there.
-
Know who else still works there last I heard? A dude who bullied multiple women (incl me) and called me a c***. "minority? Or "prevalent"?
-
Anyway under indexed folk at google: you deserve a better environment than this. If you think I can help you find it, my DMs are open.

Liberal white men: stop allowing the humanity of people who are not white men to be up for debate. Insist on it as a premise, please.
