Every request I get lately makes me want to sob and ask “do you have any idea how much I have going on right now?!” And the answer is: no, they have no idea.

Which is not to say they should! Just an observation that requests get made in a context the requester knows very little about.

Although one thing I learned lately is that being so stressed I’m actually willing to walk away from commitments or nope out on anything that seems a lot of stress and effort is an effective negotiation strategy. Must remember this when I feel some level of calm and optimism.
