It’s interesting that so many people seem to think longer hours -> higher velocity. IME the biggest detriment to velocity is people working on the wrong thing, aka the kind of poor decisions people commonly make when they don’t get enough sleep.

I don’t think I am ready to accept the end of twitter. I keep trying to find words to express what this service has given me, and I’m at a loss. The only social media service I like. This has been my community.

I think I read the effective altruism book _years_ ago and what I took from it was give experts money to improve things and do you career wise. Somehow in years of paying no attention it became a tech bro crypto Ponzi scheme and somehow also a sex thing?! Off the fucking wall.

The Twitter situation makes me so sad, I have got so much value out of this site and it seemed to be one of the better tech companies to work for too. The level of destruction that one powerful egomaniac can enact upon people is invariably horrifying.

One of the most interesting things I’ve worked on this year is director level hiring. Overhauled the process, reviewed tons of documents (we do a primarily written process), many many interviews (5 this week alone) and I have learned SO MUCH.
