Oh great :)
-
Right. I also think that organizations that try and get rid of "bad politics" have just created new political systems that are harder for people coming in from the outside to understand.
-
Lmao 😆
-
Anyway I got back from the US with a sore throat which is almost certainly just a throat infection (I get them when exhausted / stressed) but now I guess I am supposed to self-quarantine and call my GP tomorrow :/
-
Finished book on organizational politics, the final chapter said politics were bad for organizations but that all organizations had them, & that as organizations don’t care about you anyway you may as well play to win. I was a bit 🤯 & I guess I’ll think about this for a while.

Trying to find information on the state of coronavirus in Ireland and aside from some information panels on the floor of the airport all I’ve found is xenophobia.

Had so much fun recording this with @nmsanchez

🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 for when you wake up: someone at work mentioned you yesterday and we were talking about how great you are 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Yeah the situation is also inherently pretty stressful. I’m also struggling emotionally with it. One thing that helps me at times is setting a goal for the day and focusing on that rather than time. When the goal is done, so am I.

🖤
-
Yeah honestly I was always pretty good at this so I don’t know if I’m the best person to ask. Routines and separation help. Define the start and end of your day, going outside is helpful. Set up a space to work every day if you can.
-
Yeah will investigate!!

No no I am stuck in my perfect beautiful house in Ireland with tons of Creme eggs and sheet masks.

We can’t get liquids shipped to Ireland :/

Today is a great day to learn that my health insurance does not cover therapy 🙃🙄🤔
-
Awww yeah, I actually advanced planned and booked a luxury vacay at the end of May and I‘ll be devastated if we don’t get to go. I’m sorry!! Hopefully you can rebook 🖤
-
My friends and I have replaced normal socializing with roaming around cork at night a safe six feet away from random drunken strangers and you know what? I’m here for it. Anything is good with the right company 🖤
-
“I don’t fuck about with stationery.” The pilot has hidden depths.
-
Reminder to people who aren’t Americans that it’s worth reading your local news. America dominates the information you find on twitter, but they have an incompetent govt & significant human rights issues. In situations like this, everything compounds.
-

-
Everyone fails on day one 🖤
-
I feel for them, but doesn’t help to live in that reality when it’s not mine. I was super anxious & then I read the news in 🇮🇪. It’s not super, but we are a small & relatively organized, relatively wealthy island. Things shut down earlier, there’s better testing. It’s reassuring.
-
Honestly a lot of us who typically work from home may have had a shit week feeling trapped and anxious. I know I did. Next week we can all try again :) capitalism will survive, it has the resiliency of a cockroach.
-
If last week was your first (surprise!) work from home week, it was probably shit. My suggestion: On Monday, stop worrying about “being productive” and ask “what’s the most important thing for me to do today?” Write it down on a postit, and try and get that done.

Hi this is a reminder that it’s the weekend and most of you don’t need to work on the weekend. Chill out. Make your space nice. Go for a walk. Read a book. Send someone you love a card or a little gift.
-
I went last year knowing it wasn’t likely to cover much :/ but nothing! Sigh.

This TED talk is _amazing_, such a clear articulation of something that I bet you'll realize you on some level knew but couldn't express - Are you a giver or a taker? https://buff.ly/39OOkZL

One of my favourite instagram raccoons died and now they are posting pictures of HIDEOUS DOGS and this is just pouring salt into an open wound 😭💔🦝
-
Haven’t heard of it :) I have a kettle bell and two exercise balls... I may take up running again 😭 even tho I hate it.

So glad it was useful!

Dani why are you in a car?! Who is driving it?!?

Great point!

I know I am devastated. Those awful dogs were always ruining her photos and I bet it was some kind of terrible dog related thing that killed precious beautiful pumpkin 😭😭😭😭😭

Yeah amazon says “usually available in 1-2 months” :/

Oh! They are also asking people to pay contactless where possible. These kind of measures aren’t limited to that gym. The airfield where the pilot trains, they take everyone’s temperature on entry, and they have been flying in surgical gloves.
-
🖤
-
Oh, cool!
-
Honestly the two things that pushed me out of it are: - it does NOT match my decor and would ruin my ground floor layout - I genuinely like going to the gym and I know I won’t use it when this is over - 💸
-
🖤 it’s okay 🖤 you can get things done next week.
-
I feel you 🖤
-
No.
-
Seriously contemplated buying a peloton today so I guess I am totally fine over here no need to be concerned 🙈
-
A fascinating thing about remote work is that it makes problems of work explicit (then we address them). This COVID situation for co-located companies means: now they figure out remote. Remote (distributed) companies still have things to deal with. A non-exhaustive list:
-
Oh that’s cool.
-
*hellscape
-
That’s terrifying I’m sorry 🖤
-
“We need people to show a bit of cop-on and a bit of common sense.” I love how practical and pragmatic this country is.
-
Yeah they have really been On It here. It’s good, but my anxiety is still through the roof :/
-
This is why I need to buy a peloton before I get desperate 😅
-
Now the pubs are shut: https://independent.ie/world-news/coronavirus/coronavirus-ireland-all-pubs-asked-to-close-as-40-new-cases-of-covid-19-confirmed-39045775.html…
-
Yeah the thing is I also work from home and have you seen my house? It’s beautiful and in a very different style 😆 so the gym as a place to go and reason to leave the house is a big part of my life and habits etc. also I don’t allow ugly things in my habitat.
-
That’s good :) I’ll think about it more.
-
It’s great, right? So reassuring.
-
Aww 🖤🖤🖤 i hope you find something great soon and get your peloton!

This is huge because it’s the one thing that is not a necessity (food, pharmacy) that I don’t think I can give up without losing my mind.
-
Oh cool, I use them with my trainer sometimes. I don’t think I have anywhere to put them tho :/
-
Oh no :(
-
My gym is Not Fucking Around. I went a couple of days ago and they had extra cleaning supplies and were cleaning more. Now they have shut every other machine for personal space, and if you are caught not cleaning a machine after using it they will kick you out.
-
Yeah it’s SO EXPENSIVE omg
-
🔪 https://photo.cate.blog/2020/03/%f0%9f%94%aa/…
-
Ohh :/ I haven’t checked the games store here, and it’s a public holiday today anyway. We are still allowed to leave the house, so I’m going to go meet a friend for a walk.
-
😍
-
Lmao it’s not an open plane :)
-
It’s not super but really as far as these things go the Irish govt has been super on it & I’m glad I live here. Over a week ago at the airport there were clear signs and instructions, & a health station. People returning from affected areas were already encouraged to quarantine.
-
Omg a guy just TOUCHED HIS FACE without first using hand sanitizer what madness is this?! A snapshot of a whole other time 🤯
-
Hilariously I have some extended afk planned which I was going to spend in the gym and writing code... I guess at least one of those still possible 🤔
-
:( at least you have the ring fit!
-
That’s exciting!! They are so lucky to work with you! 🖤
-
My hairdresser is also shut now but who needs nice hair to self isolate anyway. Also, the gvt has already set up a coronavirus benefit and is asking businesses / banks to pay people a certain amount (which they can reclaim) to make sure that people still have 💶
-
They are out. You also can’t get pelotons in Ireland :/
-
I can’t remember what those are like 💔😭
-
Oh I haven’t heard of that.
-
Movies have become so unrelatable. They keep touching surfaces, shaking hands, hanging out with strangers, being in crowds, kissing, leaving the house...
-
Oh I haven’t seen those!
-
Yes.
-
Yes!!! Such bizarre vintage behaviours.
-
No get a raccoon!

A fun effect of this new level of baseline anxiety is my mouth guard - designed to stop me from clenching my jaw - has caused me to vomit, twice. The dentist is shut but I guess I don’t need to speak to a human to know that this is not a normal or expected reaction 😆

Amongst the (questionable) reasons for keeping the drone has been: the cost of the drone includes €100 of tax for the Irish government, which is good, they’re doing a good job and I want to pay tax right now.
-
I don’t plan an exact time but it happens very consistently 🙈 if I’m driving, the radio is usually the cause.
-

After 2.5 weeks of social distancing perhaps I shouldn’t be allowed outside. I went to pick up a WiFi booster for a friend and... now I seem to be impulse buying a (small) drone?!

The wild thing is in Ireland they have been and continue to be very on it, so I am often crying as a result of heartwarming community and signs of hope.

My dreams about human interaction are getting increasingly intense (and worrying) 🙈😆
-
🖤🖤🖤
-
Ireland has 24% growth vs predicted 30%, 93% of (extensive) testing comes back negative. Two things the gvt did here: - follow WHO guidelines (and ask all businesses who remain open to), starting _weeks_ ago - very quickly & clearly provided income support to those affected
-
Routines are key during this trying time. One of my new morning routines: - forget to take my inhaler - cough repeatedly - worry that I’m dying - remember inhaler - judge myself for irrational anxiety
-
Thank you 🖤
-
Yeah I’m not sure how to count things... for me personally it’s pretty much week 3, but for Ireland it’s week 2 :/
